Turner talks about Longmont's best community Groups

People are drawn to Longmont, and one reason is it’s supportive and caring community. Longmont has plenty of community groups of all types. This is only a small portion! 

 

OUR Center (Outreach United Resource Center)

OUR Center works closely with other agencies in the community to assist those in need, especially those in emergency situations. In 2017, OUR Center served 107,600 meals in the Hospitality Center and distributed 1,000,569 pounds of emergency groceries to 18,064 households. They strive for a better community by providing needed resources and support to Longmont’s needy population, including the homeless, working poor, aging or despondent.

HOPE (Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement)

HOPE is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless individuals move toward self-sufficiency and stable housing. They offer year-round services including sheltering, case management, hot meals, job search assistance, showers and more. HOPE recently launched a SafeLot Program to provide safe parking for people who must sleep in their cars.

The Longmont Humane Society

The Longmont Humane Society cares, serves and educates to improve the lives of companion animals. Thousands enter the shelter’s doors each yearmany are adopted, reunited with their families or sent to other shelters. The veterinary staff performs nearly 1,500 spay or neuter surgeries a year for shelter animals and another 1,500 for public animals, which helps address the pet overpopulation problem.

Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley

Longmont has its own community Habitat for Humanity! Habitat of St. Vrain builds affordable homes in partnership with low income families in the St. Vrain Valley.

Longmont Food Rescue

Longmont Food Rescue redistributes nutritious food that retailers have deemed food “waste” to feed hungry, homeless and low-income populations directly.

Out Boulder County

Out Boulder County specializes in educating, advocating and providing services, programs and support for Boulder County's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer communities.

Latino Chamber of Commerce of Boulder County

Latino Chamber of Commerce of Boulder County promotes economic advancement and growth for its members by providing access to business opportunities and developmental resources.

I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County

The I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County provides long-term mentoring and tutoring programming to low-income children to help them reach their education and career goals.

To develop, support and promote a vital and valuable Downtown Longmont. Through strategic development and programs, LDDA makes downtown appealing to businesses, residents and visitors.

Longmont Chamber of Commerce

The Longmont Chamber of Commerce “advocates for business, develops strong leadership programming and promotes educational opportunities to build the skills of our members.”
